THE MURDERGAME SHIPPING MEME V1.1

This is probably too straight to accurately represent most murdergame ships but like. We take what the stock image industry gives us.

So, you've been put into a murder mystery game where you're going to have to fight for your life! Every week another body or two, surrounded by strangers- Wait, you knew that? You actually kind of have your bearings? Well fine, here's a different problem - see that person over there? Yeah, that one. Wouldn't it be a really terrible idea if you fell in love with them right now?

This is a meme for that sometimes most fun of bad choices in murdergames: shipping. Leave a toplevel with info that might be in your character's profile (recommended, so everyone knows what your character is About), maybe a murdergame title (optional but encouraged), and any extra info you want to give along with whatever your shipping prefs are, then either pick from the prompts below or wing it and go tag around! Profile code and some prefs options below.

SETTINGS (note: absolutely not an exhaustive list)
1. Shopping Mall - Live your teen movie romance dreams! Sure, someone seems to get mcfucking murdered in the Starbucks every week, but that doesn't mean you can't go on a coffee date, right?
2. School - Live the... other party of your teen movie romance dreams! It's a little hard to be romantic when the only place for a dinner date is the cafeteria, but in fairness you are also constantly overcoming bigger problems than that here.
3. Generic Facility - Looking for romance? Try scenic Sealed-Off Building Full of Rooms! It's themed in some way - science, underwater - but the concept is the same. Surely there's some kind of bar or inexplicable amusement park in here you could use for a romantic evening, right?
4. Spooky Mansion - You know what they say about going on dates to scary movies, right? What if the scary movie was uh. The whole thing. The whole place. Where you live. And die, sometimes.
5. Romance Zone - I mean hey, maybe you're stuck somewhere literally built for both romance and murder! Pleasure and pain. Life and death. Smoochin' and stabbin'.
6. Other - If you can block off an area, you can put a murdergame there. Get creative!

PROMPTS (ship scenarios)
1. Confession (Fun) - Ah, the start of any good murdergame relationship. Maybe you've been dancing around each other for a week or two, maybe over the course of one thread and a lot of screaming your players decided you're gonna kiss. Time to figure out what these feelings mean while you're, you know. Here. Can be combined with some of the other prompts too, if you like.
2. Dating??? - Where do you even go to date in a murdergame? Is it even worth trying to hang onto this kind of normalcy when either of you could die any day now? It's probably fine.
2b. Dating+ - Can be combined with any other prompt, but somehow, some way, one of you is taking the lead in this date and getting a bunch of emotions in... because you're deathflagging. You're deathflagging hard.
3. Afterparty - Hey, that was a rough trial! Whatever it was! But you're both alive, so... better try to comfort each other, huh? Enjoy whatever kind of snacks you guys have available.
4. Confession (Unfun) - Oops, uh. One of you... seems to have confessed to murder. Better get whatever last moments in that you can before voting ends and one of you gets brutally executed!
5. The Couple That Kills Together - Okay, so maybe you did or didn't actually kill someone together. But at least one of you did a murder, and the body hasn't been properly discovered yet, so... time to talk this through? Make bad choices for love?
6. Deadland Romance - Maybe you've just reunited in the land of the dead, or maybe this is where you're trying to get your relationship off the ground. Either way, there's gotta be some weird emotions to "we're dead and trying to make it work."
7. Golden End Reunion - Great news! You beat up the mastermind (or befriended them, I don't know your style) and got all of the dead people back, including the other half of your ship! That's gotta feel good, seeing them again after however many weeks.
8. What now? - The game is over, it's time to go home. But... which home? If you split up, is there going to be a chance to visit each other again? Can you work that kind of long-distance?
9. Smut Option - Look. It's not generally onscreen, but hookups happen. Did you have to kick roommates out? Is this the fabled... you know, variant of option 5? Basically look, if you wanna use this meme for smut I'm not gonna say no, just tag appropriately.
10. Anything else! - Look, one of the fun things about murdergame ships is how many ways they can go in the emotional crucible inherent to them. I can't account for a lot of things ahead of the basics, so plot with your thread partner and have fun with it! Hell, maybe bring a good ol' murdergame polyblob into the mix, I'm not gonna stop you! Go with ur heart, assume other characters, live your truth!

[ What's On The Table: Small, slightly withdrawn, but a pretty good friend once she's had a chance to adjust to new circumstances! She's come a long way by the canonpoint I pull her from. Easier than you'd think to pull into Shenanigans.
Looking for: Not to literally just point at the two characters from her canon I ship her with most, but energetic types balance her out pretty well, but also cool kids she can chill with. Honestly, she goes well with a lot of different Fellow Teens, the main point where she's not going to do well is if the other person is like. Mean.

[What's On The Table: An actual ray of sunshine, Penny tries to see the best in everyone except probably the people telling you all to murder. She's also just a little too prone to violence in defense of others, and probably tries to physically fight the hosts and/or mastermind at least once. Entirely too free with promises to Keep Everyone Safe and Get Everyone Home, it definitely won't get tragic really fast. Super supportive and affectionate in a relationship, gives amazing hugs that only crush your ribs a little bit. She's very concerned about Doing Things Right and probably falls into a lot of cheesy dating tropes at first. May also need to be told that she's been dating someone.
General murdergame H/C stuff is great, reunions in deadland or golden end are A+. Romantic confessions are great, as are "wait, are we dating" moments. On the opposite end of the spectrum: murder confessions or revelations in trials.

Looking for:

She's very focused on her goals and priorities, avoidant to dating. It's not impossible to catch her affections, though, but it might take her awhile to realize it because a) she doesn't know she's gay and/or b) she doesn't know she has a crush on her best friend. Must be willing to put up with Riley's nonsense about her best friend, as they are both kind of obsessed with each other.

Looking for: Girls! Unless you want to thread out some this-goes-nowhere early relationship stuff, this is a girls-only character as Riley is a lesbian. She does best with someone who can take control from her, who she can let her guard down enough to trust them to take care of her, but also will call out her bullshit. She's got some Problems and needs a lot of therapy and people to encourage her not to murder. Or maybe to murder if you want to take it down a bad end. ]

Looking for: Carmel's only into betas, which to her means people that are driven to provide for others rather than protect or caretake. In more human terms, she's "sort of a lesbian" in that most of her crushes and stuff have been on female-identifying people. It's kind of fluid, though, because her human grasp on gender is shaky at best.]

[ What's On The Table: Here's the skinny: Mira's previously been part of a contest between gods, where the concept is "kill or be killed." She's been isolated for most of her life, so she doesn't really people too well. After her brother died, she's forced to confront things about herself she didn't know before. At this point, she's confronted one of the gods, and it ended arguably alright only for her. She likes baking, and she's good at it; she's also an artist, for your Jack Dawson-type needs. She's kind and really only wants to see the people she cares about safe and happy.
Looking for: Let's face it, I'm down for anything, y'all know I'm thirsty as hell. Mira works pretty well with a lot of different personalities, since she's patient and prefers to get to know people before passing any sort of judgment. She's pretty easy to get along with, but bonus points to people who will push her to be better, people who will listen to her and not judge her, and more hardened types she can be aggressively kind and accepting toward. ]

Riley didn't leave bed in the middle of the night. They had rules, and Riley didn't break rules unless -]

[What's On The Table: Tl;dr, former government MMA fighter turned galactic vagrant and jack of all trades, essentially a supporting character in a shounen fighting series. Highly enthusiastic, gives amazing hugs, is dumb as a box of wet driveway gravel. Highly affectionate once she's in a relationship, typically not looking for any kind of commitment, but once she's smitten she'll die for you. Might die for you without the romantic angle as well, but shush. Highly protective, incredibly soft when she's got the dokis.

If there's a major secret to be had here, it's that she was mostly on the wrong side of the fight to end the program that created and used her and hundreds of fighters like her for interplanetary proxy wars. She doesn't like getting introspective about it.

Looking for: Kick her ass or need her protection, honestly. Someone who can be a solid counterpoint to her wild enthusiasm would be good. Or a fellow knucklehead bro to enable her into full gremlinhood, whichever.]

I know. It's okay. [There's so much blood. Riley's going to need to shower, Cairo thinks absently as she gently reaches out her hand.] Give me the knife, Riley.

[She should look for the body. Figure out who it is, what they need to do to fix this. It won't be as simple as framing Mattie was. That wasn't a very good plan anyway. They'll need a better one for this. The junior detective squad here will see through anything that's not ironclad, but none of that matters if Cairo can't get Riley to come back to her.]

Everything will be fine. Tigers fight and Tigers win, remember?

[ This is weird. She’s done this before. Shouldn’t it be easy? When she killed Chess and Farrah, she could go back to normal so fast. It doesn’t really matter that for the rest of that night everything swam hazily through her head, from taking everyone’s phones to the actual murders. Like watching from a distance. Just another awful, wonderful fantasy. It doesn’t matter she had to wonder if, when the bathroom held two bodies instead of one, if she’d done that one too.

Wait, Cairo’s telling her something. It’s not that night, it’s not the second night, it’s— ] I had to, [ she says faintly, placing the knife in Cairo’s hand gracelessly. Probably about to get blood on Cairo’s shirt, but at least she has enough care not to knick the other girl. ]

I wasn’t—

[ Before it was quick. Nothing to show she was at fault. This time, besides the blood, Riley’s hair is a little disheveled, right side pulled out of her high ponytail, the one she’d done up almost like clockwork before she found herself wandering through the mall, before someone kind came along. ]

...I didn’t...want to, okay?

[ And still, she sounds distant. Voice a bit too high. ]

[Cairo takes the knife and she's going to just throw it far enough away that at least nobody else will die but. There's already blood on her shirt. It's black, so the stain won't show even if they can't quite get it out. She wipes the knife clean on her shirt. It's not perfect, but she feels better about dropping it in the nearby trashcan now. Step one: get rid of the murder weapon.

The junior detective squad will find it, but they'll have to dig through trash for it and what will they even be able to find once they do that?

Turning her attention back to Riley, Cairo crowds into her space and tries to calm her. Riley needs to be calm before Cairo can even think about any of the other steps.]

Hey. Just breathe for me, okay? In and out. In and out.

[ Were Riley a bit more cognizant, she’d wonder if Cairo’s afraid of Riley pulling the knife on her too. She’s done it once, after all, and she could do it again.

Now all she can think is how Cairo’s going to get blood on her jacket, too, and that’s unfortunate, because Cairo loves this jacket. She’ll be so annoyed, so.

Riley’s head jerks up. She’d been watching the knife. It’s only looking at Cairo’s face again that she feels some of the fog start to lift, or— or turn to panic. ]

S-seriously, I r-r-really didn’t want to, but I- I got t-too— I couldn’t—

[ Her hand’s empty. It’s only natural that it goes to Cairo’s arm, closest to her. Girl’s already forgotten about the jacket. ]

[The jacket Cairo's wearing cost like a hundred fifty dollars on clearance. Everyone knows she loves this thing, she wears it all the time and it'll probably be suspicious if she doesn't wear it during the trial tomorrow.

None of that matters. Cairo brings her hand up to Riley's face. Her hair's a mess, but Cairo can't fix that right now. She has to focus on what she can fix, the ways she can trip that bastard Forsythe up. She refuses to call him "Jughead." First of all, that's a stupid name and second of all calling him by a nickname would imply that she respects him and she doesn't. Especially not after he got all up in her face last trial over stupid shit.]

I know, I know. Shhhhh, breathe. In and out. In and out.

[First thing's first: they need to move the body. Cairo doesn't know where it is, but they need to move it. It has to look calculated, like one of the creepy adults did it. Then they need to clean up the blood trail Cairo followed to find Riley. Riley's probably not going to be much help with that, but maybe they can swap out her shoes in the sporting store at least. That way she can go back to the room and shower while Cairo cleans this up.]

I know this sucks, babe, but we need to move the body. Where is it?

[The Champion of Scissors was in a mood. The mastermind, the Executor or whatever his name was had a doozy of a motive. Fix your greatest mistake. Red... had shouted at him calling him a hungry wolf and then stormed out.

She's at the gym, the packet thrown on the ground had a picture of a young look-ing Red Riding Hood and some girl with white hair and pink eyes fighting. The girl had a black fish tail--something that apparently made Red just stomp all over the picture.]

Yo, Mira! Sis could use your help. Mind spotting me for a while?

[ What's On The Table: An idiot who's the leader of an elite fighting force to break out of a weird fairy tale inspired prison that used to be Tokyo. Yes, she knows her name is from a fairy tale. She doesn't know why--all Blood Maidens are like that, after all. What is a Blood Maiden? Someone who can fight the monsters of the jail, the Marchen. Red's impulsive and reckless but strangely reliable. She's the leader because she was the oldest but she learned to grow into that role, observing her peers and figuring out how to support them. She's still dumb but she tries.

She's very protective of those she cares about, even if they're shady or if they're mostly strangers.

Red also freaks out if she doesn't have a hood or a hat. She can't help it. She'll also refer to herself as Sis even if you're older or if she's the youngest. It's a habit.

Looking for: Jocks she can hang with. Fellow hero-types. People who need a big sibling in their life...or ones that just want to know what the hell is wrong with her.

As for scenarios, I'm really open to anything. Murder/sad time is always appreciated. She does come from a horror-themed canon so she's seen a bunch of shit. Why not add more?

[ What's On The Table: So if you've only seen the movie, Envy is... a little more complex than that. Tale as old as time: nerd girl sells all her anime merch for CDs and cool clothes, goes on to become a wildly successful musician, now is bandless and sort of looking for meaning. Definitely not easy mode for murdergame dating, her last two relationships ended Poorly, but especially if you can get through the outer layers of persona and find the like. Person at the core of them? She has no actual desire to go back to being a quiet, nerdy girl, but she might not kick your ass unless you, like, ask for it.
Looking for: Hoo boy so Envy definitely goes best with either like. Other cool artistic types or just like. Nice people? Be nice but not boring, and that'll go a long way. ]
