[after a few moments, she hands a box to jezebel. it seems like it has small holes in it, and the lid seems to be rocking up and down as though something is trying to get out?

[Oh. Oh! That's... Jezebel's hand fly up to her mouth, and she just lights up!!!]

A kitten!

I didn't pick out a name yet, I thought I'd leave that to you.

[as soon as jezebel lights up, she smiles as well. a+ present, she did a good.]

Hm...

[She resists the urge to name it Johnny Cat, because Johnny is not a good cat name.]

Well, is it a boy or a girl cat?

She's a girl.

[the kitten meows softly, batting at jezebel's hand with a paw.]

[She reaches to scratch under the cat's chin, it's so cute??? It's so cute!!!!]

How about Miranda? Like in The Tempest.

Nice pick. I bet Shakespeare would approve.

Yeah, probably.

[She finally pulls her attention from this kitten, looking up at Natalie while grinning.]

Best Christmas yet, I'm calling it.

[robitussin]

Yeah. I'll have to get pretty creative to top this one.

[reaching forward to scratch miranda's head with a finger. so cute.]

No kidding. Tough act to follow.

[miranda is probably so hype about this petting business. hell yes, scritches.]

She's so cute!

She is unfairly adorable, it's true. Her ridiculous fluffy nature tempted me beyond what my self control could handle.

Well, I am very glad she wormed her way into your heart.

[And she will go ahead and kiss Natalie, pulling her attention away from Miranda at least for a little while.]

Yeah, I—

[oh.

from the look of surprise on her face, she didn't see that coming, but she very certainly isn't complaining, either. she returns the kiss with a smile, moving her hands to jezebel's waist.]

[Jez holds the kiss for a few seconds, but then Miranda reasserts her presence with a meow from the box in her free hand.]

...I think we should probably hold this thought until we get her settled in a little.

I got her some food and a collar, too... Maybe she's hungry. Or maybe she's just an attention hoarder.

Didn't know you were a cat whisperer. I'll have to add it to your long list of talents.

It's a blessing and a curse. I can talk to them, but they're too noncommittal to give a straight answer.

Ah, you forgot the one constant in the universe: cats are assholes.

[She sighs]

Well, they're cute assholes at least.
